Privacy & Cookie policy

At Hotel Amsterdam De Roode Leeuw, we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our visitors to our web site. Here you’ll find information on how we treat data that we collect from visitors to our website.

Visitors to our Website

When someone visits our website we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. You can find more information on how cookies are used on this website in the Cookies Policy below.

If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be up front about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

When you make a booking to stay in our hotel, we need certain data from you.

Below you can read more about which data we process and what we do with it.

a. Contact data (first name, surname, telephone number and e-mail address)

We use your personal data to be able to speak to you personally in the hotel, but also in our further communication with you. These data are also necessary to record your booking. We normally send you your booking details by email.

It may be the case that we need to contact you about your booking. We may ring you if there are any questions and may send you a message.

Prior to and during your stay we use a software program called Oaky to send you a total of three emails with useful information about our additional services, things you may be interested in while staying in Amsterdam and lastly an email during your stay checking with you if we can do anything to improve your stay with us. After your stay we will email you, using ReviewPro software, asking you to review your stay with us.

The only information we share with these two partners are your name, stay dates and email address.

b. Payment data

To guarantee your booking we request your credit card number and expiration date of the card, but not your CVC number, in a secure environment. The data concerned are stored securely.

c. Data relating to your stay (arrival and departure dates, preferences and interests)

The arrival and departure date of your stay in order to execute the agreement with you and also preferences and interests so that we can fulfill your wishes as optimally as possible.

Cookies Policy

We use a system of classifying the different types of cookies which we use on the Website, or which may be used by third parties through our websites. The classification explains more about which cookies we use, why we use them, and the functionality you will lose if you decide you don't want to have them on your device.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your personal computer, mobile or other device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognises that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user's device.

How long are cookies stored for?

Persistent cookies - these cookies remain on a user's device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.

Session cookies - these cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve the user experience.
